Vacation Rentals by Owner
Ever since the internet boom back in 2000 thousands of vacation rental owners have decided to take renting out their properties on their own. This has sparked a light in internet entrepreneurs to start creating websites that offer such a service.
Some websites such as Ontario-Cottages.ca have localized their focuses towards areas which have a high number of vacation rentals and some such as Rentsation.com have taken it a step higher and opened their website globally.
Since 2000 thousands of webmasters have tried to launch a service that posts vacation rentals by owner but most have not succeeded simply because the market is very tough and hard to rank for in search engines. Once someone creates a website they have to have the money to either A market the website through CPC (Cost Per Click) marketing or spend their for SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and try to rank higher organically which usually is the better way to go.
The most popular areas are the hardest to rank for, for example Michigan Vacation Rentals gets 1,536 unique searches per day on Google *, Florida Vacation Rentals is the 2nd highest with 368 unique searches per day. You're probably as surprised as I am with these results, I personally thought Florida would get more searches then Michigan.
Now just to give you an idea, at the moment Google has 3, 940, 000 websites competing for this keyterm. This makes it REALLY hard to rank for that keyword.
For those vacation property owners who are looking for a great website to post their ad on here are some we suggest you consider:
